The Faculty of Economics is operated as an autonomous organization with good governance as well as high flexibility of administration, which allows the faculty to keep up with modern advancement.

Productivity goals
Pursuing the productivity policies of the Thai government as well as Khon Kaen University, the Faculty of Economics aims to produce graduates adhering to the principles of academic freedom as well as accountability. The faculty has also created several academic curriculums to fulfil the requirements of current labour market. Quality and standard control
The practice of quality and standard control for the Faculty of Economics is adopted under the Act of Khon Kaen University, as follows:
1) The quality control of the Faculty of Economics is subject to the internal education quality assurance by Office of the Higher Education Commission, the external education quality assurance by The Office for National Education Standards and Quality Assessment, the terms and conditions of Thai Qualifications Framework for Higher Education in 2009, Standard Curriculums for Higher Education in 2005, Standard Curriculum for Bachelor’s degree in 2005, and Standard Curriculum for Master’s degree in 2005.
2) The Faculty of Economics at Khon Kaen Univesity, as a national university of Thailand, is the first institution in the northeastern region to be responsible for producing graduates who own the particular qualification of Economics. The faculty also aims to produce graduates who hold distinguishing characteristics: understanding the mechanism of specific economic systems in the broad aspect as well as analyzing actual circumstances to yield solutions and principles for development of community, society, the nation, graduates, research, and academic services.
3) The Faculty of Economics has three main output goals including graduates, research and academic services. Graduates of the Faculty of Economics are able to work in whether educational or financial institutions as well as profitable or non-profitable organizations, and they are ensured to have high skills in thinking, conducting resource analysis and using economic instruments. In relation to the research goals, the faculty carries out both basic and applied research on economics covering the fields of agriculture, industry, community development environment, energy, politics, human resources, etc. Academic services offered by the faculty are meant to satisfy all community levels, from household to organizations, in order to apply economics-based knowledge for instruments, evaluation, and development.
4) The Faculty of Economics is required to determine all of the necessary administrative procedures, as follows: the student admission process which is proper for the target numbers from both direct and central admission, the study-to-faculty ratio at 1:25 with a higher number of PhD lecturers, continual improvement of curriculums for modern appropriateness, extracurricular activities for students, and pedagogical approaches integrated with technology for student’s learning optimization.
