เพื่อการทําวิจัยที่ให้คุณค่าแก่สิ่งแวดล้อม การจัดหลักสูตรการฝึกอบรมเกี่ยวกับการใช้เครื่องมือและเทคนิคทางเศรษฐศาสตร์ในการวิเคราะห์ปัญหาด้านสิ่งแวดล้อมให้คำปรึกษากับนักวิจัยรุ่นใหม่ในกลุ่มประเทศไทย ลาว เมียนมาร์ และกัมพูชา และสนับสนุนทุนการทำวิจัยด้วย ตลอดจนการสร้างเครือข่ายระหว่างนักวิจัยภายในกลุ่มประเทศในอาเซียน โดย คณะเศรษฐศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น เป็นผู้ดำเนินการจัดหลักสูตรอบรม ดังนี้

Training Course
On 20-24 June 2022, EEI-LMS had held the 2022 training course for participants from Laos, Myanmar, and Cambodia about Environmental Economics with the following topics: Welfare Economics, Benefit-cost analysis, Valuation, Behavioral Economics and Experimental Economics. We were honored to have our professors for giving us interesting knowledge and activities including Dr.Phumsit Mahasuweerachai, Dr.Orapan Srisaowaluk, Dr.Rawadee Jarungrattanapong, Dr.Piyaluk Buddhawongsa, Dr.Kanittha Tambunlertchai, Dr.Voravee Saengavut, Dr.Jakrapun Suksawat, and Dr.Therese Lindahl. Moreover, we had the proposal discussion sections commented by our professors for participants to improve their proposals in order to get the small research grants 2022 from The Economy and Environment Partnership for Southeast Asia (EEPSEA).

Training Course
“Environmental Economics: Welfare Economics, Cost-Benefit Analysis, Economic Valuation, Behavioral Economics and Experimental Economics” hosted by Economy and Environment Partnership for Lower Mekong Sub-Region (EEI-LMS)

This course aims to help you improve your research capability as part of your professional practice in environmental and natural resource economics by allowing you to participate in a hands-on practice of designing and developing your own research proposal from the beginning. You will also get an opportunity to learn how to use the necessary tools to conduct environmental and natural resource economics research which will help you in applying for research funding.

On 20 October 2022, EEI-LMS had held the Environmental Economics for Practitioners and Policymakers (Appreciation course 2022) for participants about Environmental Economics with the following topics: Introduction to Environmental Economics, Economic Instruments, Behavioral Economics and Public Policies, and Impact Evaluation. We were honored to have our professors for giving us interesting knowledge including Dr.Phumsit Mahasuweerachai, Dr.Orapan Srisaowaluk, Dr.Rawadee Jarungrattanapong, and Dr.Kanittha Tambunlertchai.

The EEPSEA Annual Conference was held successfully from the 1st to the 2nd of December 2022 at the Landmark Hotel Bangkok, Thailand, providing a platform for exchanging research ideas and making connections to advance the field of environmental economics through transdisciplinary approaches.
The conference “Environmental Economics in Southeast Asia: Transdisciplinary Approaches to Sustainability and Quality of Life” was hosted by the Economy and Environment Partnership for Lower Mekong Subregion (EEI-LMS) Research Center and the Faculty of Economics at Khon Kaen University, with funding from the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida)

• On the first day of the conference was honored to have Dr. Pham Khanh Nam (EEPSEA Regional Director), Dr. Eren Zink (First Secretary/Research Advisor, Embassy of Sweden in Thailand) and Prof.Dr. Kullapapruk Piewthongngam (Faculty of Economics, Khon Kaen University Dean) gave the opening remarks. Following the warm welcome was the keynote speech by Prof.Dr.Uri Gneezy, University of California San Diego on the topic of “Mixed Signals: How Incentives Really Work” Next, 3 parallel sessions were held on different topics : Risk and Experiment, PES, Valuation, Climate change, Development, Sustainability and Policy and new research proposal presentations.

• The second day of the conference began with the keynote speech by Prof.Dr.Lars Hein, University of Wageningen on the topic of “The UN System of Environmental Economic Accounting – Ecosystem Accounting to measure and value natural capital” The day continued with 3 parallel sessions were held on different topics : Valuation, Development, Sustainability and Policy and new research proposal presentations.
All attendees with varied scientific interests enjoyed the conference. As Dr. Hermina Francisco and Dr. Phumsith Mahasuweerachai stated in their closing remarks, the conference achieved its goal of facilitating networking, information exchange, and collaboration among researchers, which is also EEPSEA’s mission in promoting transdisciplinary research for development and the environment.
