Khon Kaen University has once again distinguished itself on the international academic stage, achieving a significant leap to become ranked 2nd in Thailand, 6th in the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS), and 554th in the world in the field of Economics, Econometrics and Finance. This recognition comes from the SCImago Institutions Rankings 2026, a globally respected system for ranking academic and research institutions. This achievement reflects the University’s academic strength, research excellence, innovation, and societal contributions in the fields of economics and finance.

This outstanding ranking is the result of strong interdisciplinary collaboration across several key faculties and units. These include the Faculty of Economics, which serves as a central driver of research and teaching in economics, finance, and accounting; the Faculty of Business Administration and Accountancy, which has made significant contributions to internationally recognised research in finance, accounting, sustainability, innovation, and corporate finance; the Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies, Nong Khai Campus, which expands expertise in international economics and cross-border finance; and the Department of Agricultural Economics within the Faculty of Agriculture, a long-standing strength of Khon Kaen University with impactful research in agricultural and development economics.

He further emphasised, “This accomplishment is not attributable to a single faculty but is the outcome of sustained, collaborative efforts across related academic units. The Faculty of Economics, the Faculty of Business Administration and Accountancy, the Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies, Nong Khai Campus, and the Faculty of Agriculture have worked collectively to strengthen research output and academic performance. The SCImago Institutions Rankings (SIR) is a globally recognised system for ranking academic and research institutions.
